Decking and Sheathing
We are using oriented strand board or OSB throughout our country retreat project house. OSB is an engineered building material made from wood strands. The strands are mixed with a waterproof binder then arranged in cross-oriented layers. These layers are then compressed at a high temperature and pressure and formed into structural panels. The siding on our country retreat was provided by LP. It is a hardboard siding which means it is a manufactured composite wood. What is composite wood. It is Mother Nature only better. It takes an enormous amount of lumber to frame a 16000 square foot house. In the Project House we will use over 8000 pieces of lumber two by fours sixes eights and twelves plus plywood oriented strand board treated lumber laminated vneered lumber glulam beams the list goes on and on. 7003

All of the doors in our Country Retreat are sturdy and attractive soild-core doors from Tru-Stile. The doors are made of medium density fiberboard or MDF. Choosing MDF doors gave us an incredible number of styles and designs to choose from.9037

We wanted trim and moulding that was sturdy environmentally-friendly and cost less than traditional wood. Trim and Moulding
It is time to install the trim and moulding in our Country Retreat. Because this house has big rooms with very high ceilings we wanted to use moulding and trim with wide profiles to match the large dimensions of the rooms. We used mouldings made of a composite wood product called medium density fiberboard or MDF. All of the moulding in our country retreat was provided by Sunset Mouldings.9025
